Battlefield 5’s reveal livestream is starting now - watch it here

battlefield 5 setting

Battlefield V will be officially revealed later today via a livestream straight from EA. We’ll find out about the game’s setting, its multiplayer features, the nature of its campaign, and whatever other surprises DICE has in store. The stream will take place at 13:00 PDT / 16:00 EDT / 20:00 GMT, and will broadcast across YouTube, Twitch, and Mixer. We’ve embedded the Twitch stream below for your convenience.

You can expect to hear from DICE senior producers Andreas Morell and Lars Gustavsson, as well as design director Daniel Berlin, at the event, with hosting duties handled by The Daily Show’s Trevor Noah. Officially, we know that Battlefield V will feature a new setting - in other words, not WW1 - as well as a new single-player campaign with the same “War Stories” structure, and new multiplayer “modes and experiences.”

Get your guns and get into the best FPS games on PC.

Unofficially, it’s looking very likely that the Battlefield V setting will be WW2. Teasers for the game have sported Union Flags and German army symbols from the era, as well as art of a WW2-era US paratrooper.

Rumours suggest that Battlefield V will also feature a battle royale mode, and since that’s what all the hot shooters are doing these days it wouldn’t be surprising. On top of that, EA’s preview of the event mentions that Battlefield’s “large-scale multiplayer” will be taken “to the next level,” which is as good a hint as any.

We’ll know for sure a bit later this evening. Of course, we’ll keep you updated with all the details as they become available, so stay tuned for more.

Couldn't they have at least started with the trailer instead of a 'reflection' trailer? I'll find it on Youtube after it's over, it's just all marketing and concept art right now. And as pretty as it is, concept art of WW2 doesn't really tell me about the game.

I hope this will be set in Modern Warfare times with the latest war technology & no silly made up future weapons. WW2 & WW1 games are in the past & so boring, it's time to look into the future of gaming. One thing I've never seen yet in any games is different character characteristics, I'm fed up shooting & seeing character instances "clones" in games where every enemy/person looks the same.

I can only guess they're sticking with the story thematic from BF1, having 5 different stories from 5 different wars/events from similar time periods. Why else would they skip Battlefield 2-4?

Personally, I really enjoyed the story gameplay from BF1. It's combat was tense enough for a semi-casual player of the series like myself (70 hours over 3 games, mostly for fun with friends) to enjoy the difficulty and embed myself into the story of each role without feeling like the god most other long campaigns make you. I would hope for more stories so the game feels good value for its full price single player, but the title suggests 5 stories instead...

Please be set in Modern Warfare times with all the latest currently used war weapons. WW2 & 1 games are extremely boring & in the past, let's look to the future of gaming. Speaking of future gaming I'm fed up of games having character "instances" in them, every enemy person animal, scenery etc clones of each other. I dream of games in future where no 3D object/asset is the same.
