Elite: Dangerous to see new station orbiting planet Vulcan, named after the late Leonard Nimoy

Elite: Dangerous Vulcan

The world is still reeling from the passing of Star Trek actor, Leonard Nimoy, yesterday afternoon. Many in the PC gaming community, both players and developers, have expressed their respects via kind words and in-game acts.

Space simulator, Elite: Dangerous, is no different from the rest, with Star Trek being close to their hearts. Executive producer Michael Brookes has announced to the community that a station will be added orbiting the planet Vulcan, and it will be named after the late Vulcan himself.

Want more Elite: Dangerous? Here are the best Elite: Dangerous mods.

The station will be located in orbit around the already existing planet Vulcan, in system LHS-3006. Being named “Nimoy Station”, executive producer Michael Brookes announced that the station will be added with the incoming 1.2 update.

Players have also expressed other small signs of respect to be added to the station itself. One players asked that the text around the entrance say "live long and prosper" as well. Nevertheless, you can expect many commanders to be making the pilgrimage once the update is released.

You are describing Star Citizen surely? the missing ships, non functional gameplay, horrific flight model and controls that can't even manage 6 dof, missing physical stretch goal rewards, the virtual tat for the ever continuous reach goals, the studio that favours never ending development of new ships for the virtual ship showroom rathar than developing the game engine, the cash cow where you literally spend hundreds of pounds for a single ship that you can walk around but not fly, the broken promises and ever changing specs of he game / ships / features, ever increasing time frame for release....yeah sure "alpha". But it makes Elite seem super complete in comparison, and your getting angry because Frontier are spending 5 minutes to honour a sci fi legend? Get a grip.

Its a nice touch and shows great respect I think. I still would have preferred if they'd renamed the planet at LHS3006 and put Vulcan in orbit around 40 Eridani A which is the star that Vulcan orbit according to the Star Trek star charts. Either way I am glad they've done this.

Awesome, who cares that the game is broken and more than half the ships are missing. Who needs a functional game or content when we have a new shiny Leonard Nimoy station? Great work Frontier, a few more stations named after entertainers and we'll be all set. Please include some pictures of Spock in that artbook that was promised to backers, when it's finished of course.
