The Windows 10 Ultimate Game Sale has Forza Horizon 3 at full price

Forza Horizon 3 views

When the Steam Sales are on, everyone wants to fight back against the massive attention it gets with their own offers and deals. Microsoft have just waded in with their offering: the Ultimate Game Sale.

Check our list of the best free PC games if cheap isn’t good enough.

So, what’s on offer? You’re probably assuming it’s most things, being an Ultimate Game Sale, but some big first-party hits, such as Forza Horizon 3, have no discounts at all. "Ultimate," they call this?

Forza Horizon 3 is almost a year old, but you still have to pay $59.99 to play it on PC, which is ridiculous. It wouldn't be so bad, but there's not all that much else on the store. You'd think Microsoft would offer something on first-party games.

Here’s some of what is on offer:

  • Gears of War 4 (Standard: $29.99 / 50% off regular price; Ultimate Edition: $59.99 /40% off regular price)
  • Halo Wars 2 (Standard: $29.99 / 50% off regular price; Ultimate Edition $39.99 / 50% off regular price)
  • ROBLOX (In-game discounts, up to 50% off)
  • Resident Evil 7 (Standard: $35.99 / 40% off regular price; Deluxe Edition: $58.49 / 35% off regular price)
  • Dead Rising 4 (Standard: $29.99 / 50% off regular price; Deluxe Edition: $40.00 / 50% off regular price)
  • Quantum Break (Standard: $20.00 / 50% off regular price)

That’s it. That’s all the games on offer in Microsoft’s Ultimate Game Sale. Sleep easy, Valve. Sleep easy.

That's what I thought at first, too. But you can navigate to the PC page for the sale that shows more. Quantum Break is in the sale. Forza Horizon 3 isn't.

One could argue that the article hasn't been updated enough since it doesn't include the prices for Quantum Break as it does the other games. Though on the other hand you said "here's some of what's on offer". :)

Gotta say, I'm more interested in the Quantum Break sale than the Roblox sale (not my daughter though). I'm pretty sure I can get it from Steam at the same price anyway so that doesn't really matter.

I'll add it in now. It's weird, because Microsoft didn't highlight Quantum Break in their post. Then again, they are only supporting the Steam version now.

Wait what? Microsoft are only supporting the Steam version of Quantum Break?

That seems... extremely weird. I mean, I get it, most sales are guaranteed to have been from Steam - but still. If they're still updating the game, that leaves their "biggest supporters" out in the cold.

Yeah, I wrote about it a while back - https://www.pcgamesn.com/quantum-break/quantum-break-steam

Right, I remember reading about that.

Perhaps Remedy owns the IP and they're the ones abandoning the Windows Store version?

Yeah, it could be down to Remedy. Still, it explains why they're not pushing that version.

Annoyingly if you want Forza 3 on XBox One then it's only £35. And that's the price everyday not just in a sale.
