Blizzard just invented a new way for Heroes of the Storm to crush your wallet

Heroes of the Storm dynamic bundles

Blizzard has announced that their item bundles for MOBA Heroes of the Storm are to become "dynamic" with their price discounted by the cost of any items that you've already purchased.

It's not quite the selfless move it sounds--items you've purchased only have their bundle price (not their individual sale price) discounted in cases where that differs--item bundles with just two items within remain static, and you can't try and get Stimpacks or bonus gold from bundles where one or the other are the only items from the bundle you don't already own (if it ever would make sense to do that.)

They're also using this moment to switch up some of the bundles, with the Nexus Bundle being replaced by the Storm Bundle. What this means is the "Nazeebra Mount" (exclusive to the Nexus Bundle) is being removed from the shop, so if you want to pick up this mount specifically, you'll have to grab it within one week of patch day.

However, if you're a player who has already purchased duplicate items from the shop (possibly to grab that mount) you'll be getting some of that gold back. Blizzard says to watch out for an e-mail from them in the next few days.

Started playing today. Had a good time. Looked at the prices to unlcok heroes and skins. Nearly cacked myself. £7.49 average price for 21 heroes to be unlocked. Skins at same price... you need to spend hundreds to unlock all of it. Who pays that much for it?

I've been playing since Feb. 22nd, 722 games played (playing a mix of Versus A.I matches and Quick Matches)

I'm in no rush to “own” all the heroes and I'm not a serious player. I enjoy logging in and doing my dailies and playing some games with friends.

As of typing this, there are 39 heroes.

I've paid £50.48 for 16 heroes over this period.

I've spent 89,000 gold on 13 heroes.

I have 30,000 gold remaining.

Thus “owning” 29 heroes.

There are 3 heroes remaining that I'm interested in.

There are 7 heroes I won't be buying after playing them on free rotation as I just didn't enjoy playing them.

Ahhh I see. It makes more sense now. But having to pay to unlock characters is....ewww.

Any tips for a new player?

Tips with regards to what exactly (Heros, F2P Currency, Game Type, Exp system)?

I'd recommend just playing the game with friend(s) on voice comms and having fun.

When you don't have fun any longer move onto another game of your choice and play that.

Unlock the champs with their F2P currency, pick and choose the skins you like (if any). Only whales by everything.

Well to be fair the classes all play totally different, some people like me really just want to stick to one or two main guys that we play. I play the free one's when the come up in rotation so I can get a feel for their abilities to help my Tassadar crush them, then I go back to playing Tassadar 90% of the time. I have no desire to "catch them all" and feel sorry for people that do it's like pissing away money on Steam games were not playing.
