League of Legends Patch 7.24: Christmas is coming to the Rift

League of Legends' next big content patch is 7.24, bringing a special Christmas-themed version of URF, as well as a host of balance and bug fixes. Those include significant changes to Morgana, Galio and Zyra, as well as several smaller changes. Have a look below for all the information we've got.

LoL Patch 7.24 Release Date And Downtime

We don't know the exact release date for patch 7.24 yet, but the schedule is bi-weekly so expect it on Wednesday, December 6. We'll update when Riot do, but keep an eye on the server maintenance page for the latest updates.

LoL Patch 7.24 Balance Changes

That out of the way, let’s start with the really important bit, shall we? What you need to remember is that stuff on the PBE like this is neither guaranteed to happen, nor to be in the next patch even if it does. This is what the folks over at Riot are thinking about doing. We’ve got the numbers on what’s changing, and a general guideline on which way each champion, item, mastery, summoner spell or rune is moving.

Patch 7.24 Champion Changes

Aurelion Sol - buffed

  • Voice of Light (R):

    • Cooldown decreased to 110/90/70 seconds from 120/100/80 seconds. 

Bard - buffed

  • Traveller's Call (P):
    • Meep base damage increased to 40 from 30.
  • HP regen increased to 1.5 from 1.08.

Camille - buffed

  • Adaptive Defenses (P):
    • Shield duration increased to 2 seconds from 1.5 seconds.
  • Precision Protocol (Q):
    • Recast for no cost time increased to 3.5 seconds from 3 seconds (timer now displays on icon).

Darius - buffed

  • Hemorrhage (P):
    • Bleed damage increased to 13-30 from 10-27.
    • Noxian Might bonus AD increased to 30-230 from 30-200.

Ezreal - nerfed

  • Mystic Shot (Q):
    • AD ratio decreased to 110% from 125%.

Galio - changed

  • Colossal Smash (P):
    • AP ratio decreased to 50% from 70%.
  • Justice Punch (E):
    • Cooldown decreased to 12/11/10/9/8 from 14/13/12/11/10.
  • Shield of Durand (W):
    • First cast:
      • AP ratio increased to 5% from 4%.
    • Second cast:
      • New effect: Now deals 20/30/40/50/60 (+20% AP) to 60/90/120/150/180 (+60% AP) (depending on charge time).

Ivern - buffed

  • Friend of the Forest (P):
    • Grove HP cost decreased to 25-8% from 33-11.75%.
  • Rootcaller (Q):
    • Cooldown decreased to 11/10/5/10/9.5/9 from 14/13/12/11/10.

Jarvan IV - nerfed

  • Martial Cadence (Passive):
    • Bonus damage decreased to 8% from 10%
  • Dragon Strike (Q):
    • Damage decreased to 80/120/160/200/240 from 80/125/170/215/260.

Karthus - buffed

  • Requiem (R):
    • AP ratio increased to 75% from 60%.

Leona - nerfed

  • Eclipse (W):
    • Damage decreased to 40/80/120/160/200 from 60/100/140/180/220.

Malhazar - nerfed

  • Nether Grasp (R):
    • Damage decreased to 125/200/275 from 125/225/325.
    • AP ratio decreased to 80% from 100%.

Maokai - nerfed

  • Bramble Smash (Q):
    • Damage decreased to 65/105/145/185/225 from 70/115/160/205/250.

Morgana - changed

  • Mana regen per 5 seconds increased to 11.5 from 8.5.
  • Mana regen growth decreased to 0.4 from 0.8.
  • Soul Siphon (P):
    • No longer gives 10/15/20% spell vamp.
    • New effect: When Morgana' spells damage champion, large minions, or large monsters, she heals for 15/20/25/30/35/40% (at levels 1/4/7/10/13/16) of the damage dealt.
  • Tormented Soil (W):
    • New effect: When Soul Siphon is triggered, Tormented Soil's cooldown is reduced by 5%.

Ornn - nerfed

  • Bellows Breath (W):
    • Magic damage decreased to 10/12/14/16/18% from 12/14/16/18/20%.
    • Cooldown increased to 13/12/11/10/9 seconds from 12/11/10/9/8 seconds.

Riven - buffed

  • Broken Wings (Q):
    • Damage increased to 15/35/55/75/95 from 10/30/50/70/90.

Shen - nerfed

  • Twilight Assault (Q):
    • Base damage bonus decreased to 5/10/15/20/25/30 from 15/20/25/30/35/40 (at levels 1/4/7/10/13/16).

Sona - nerfed

  • Hymn of Valor (Q):
    • Mana cost increased to 60/65/70/75/80 from 45/50/55/60/65.
    • Bonus magic damage decreased to 10/15/20/25/30 (+30% AP) from 20/30/40/50/60 (+20% AP).

Taric - nerfed

  • Base armor decreased to 40 from 45.

Xin Zhao - nerfed

  • Base HP decreased to 570 from 600.
  • Wind Becomes Lightning (W):
    • Thrust Damage AD decreased to 75% from 85%.

Yorick - nerfed

  • Base AD decreased to 65 from 62.

Zyra - changed

  • Mana regen per 5 seconds increased to 11.5 from 8.5.
  • Mana regen growth decreased to 0.4 from 0.8.
  • Garden of Thorns (P):
    • Plant spawn regen decreased to 900 from 1300.
    • Plant duration increased to 8 from 5-7.5 (depending on level).
    • Passive seed duration decreased to 30 seconds from 45 seconds.
      • Does not change W seed duration
    • Plant durability changes:
      • Plant health increased to 8 from 4.
      • Ranged champion basic attack damage to plants increased to 4 from 2.
      • Melee champion basic attack damage to plants increased to 8 from 2.
      • Single target spell damage to plants increased to 8 from 4.
      • Spell AOE damage to plants increased to 4 from 2.
      • Periodic damage to plants decreased to 1 from 2.
      • Large minion/monster damage to plants increased to 2 from 1.
    • Plant gold on kill decreased to 3 from 5.
  • Rampant Growth (W):
    • Zyra's plants no longer gain 10/20/30/40/50% extra max health.
    • New effect: When Zyra takes down an enemy champion, Rampant Growth's recharge time is reduced by 20%, increased to 100% for champions, large minions, and large monsters.
  • Grasping Roots (E):
    • Damage increased to 60/105/150/195/240 from 60/95/130/165/200.
  • Stranglethorns (R):
    • New effect: Garden of Thorns now resets plant duration and they gain 50% health.

Zoe - changed

  • Paddle Star (Q):
    • This change was hotfixed to live on November 22
    • Damage increased to 45/75/105/135/165 from 40/70/100/130/160 
  • Spell Thief (W):
    • Duration of spell pick-ups from minions decreased to 20 seconds from 40 seconds.
  • Sleepy Trouble Bubble (E):
    • Cooldown reduction now only happens when enemy champions fall asleep.
    • Drowsy duration increased to 2.2 seconds from 2 seconds.
    • Drowsy's progressively growing slow decreased by 20%.
    • Max travel distance after passing over a wall decreased to 650 from 800.
    • Trap radius decreased to 250 from 290.

LoL Patch 7.24 Item Changes

Bramble Vest - changed

  • Damage reflect changed to damage equal to [3 + 10% of your bonus armor] from 15 damage.

Sunfire Cape - changed

  • Damage increased to 25 (+ champion level) from 11 (+ champion level).
  • Bonus damage to minions and monsters decreased to 50% from 200%.
  • Ornn's masterwork upgrade, Forgefire Cape, has the same changes.

LoL Patch 7.24 New Skins

Second most important: cosmetics. Lovely, gorgeous cosmetics. Bit more of a visual medium this, so we’ve grabbed the best videos of each skin, as well as a lovely pic or two. Some are relatively simple changes, while others are total reworks of every part of the champion outside the gameplay numbers - new VO, new animations, new particles and the rest. It’s generally defined by how much they cost, so we’ve detailed that as well.

LoL Patch 7.24 Login Screen

Each patch has its own login screen with unique music. They're always fairly excellent, and 7.24's first is a celebration of the All-Stars 2017. The second is a clockwork imagining of the three new Christmas skins, and, to be quite honest, it's a little unsettling:

Snow Battle ARURF and Poro King

As part of League's Christmas celebrations, not one, but two rotating game modes are on their way back. The description for Snow Battle ARURF says "A frigid fate awaits your foes! Fling spells and snowballs in this icy twist on ARURF, featuring League's coolest champions."

Snow Battle ARURF will give you a random champion from a pool of sixty icy characters (or those with wintery skins, which you'll get automatic access to, even if you don't own currently own them). Snow Battle ARURF will also set you up with a version of Flash on a 60-second cooldown, and a massively-enhanced version of snowball, which speeds you across the map to your mark. Meanwhile, the Poro King will return with two new poros - the Deer Poro and Baron Poro are joining the lineup in the upcoming Pro King gamemode.

LoL Patch 7.24 Context and Notes

Meddler has been on the forums discussing micropatches, as well as changes to Morgana and Zyra. He also mentions that 7.24 is the last patch of the year, and that patch 8.1 will be with us in early January.

Why they keep nerfing some champs like sona ? Sona is already nerfed as hell and hard to play. Leona too. Its hard to find someone who enjoys playing support role, but when they actually become better or playable they nerf them down...that is why people never play them.

Sigma keep in mind the majority of the time the reason support champs are nerved at the current moment is because Ardent Sensor was so heavily buffed during Worlds 2017. As such, Riot had to re-evaluate the support position to see who else needed a nerf or buff, and they realized a lot of supports like Leona and Sona are pretty easy to play by spamming certain abilities due to their slightly unbalanced nature. So no hard feelings from Riot, just trying to balance the game. The champs don't get harder to play, you just need to play them differently, and maybe that is what you have a hard time accepting. The meta changes, you just gotta get over it. With the new runes, I think tank junglers will take top priority, like Sej. Collossal is an OP rune, and those champs will be the ones lots play. If you main support, learn how you fit within the new runes, and play to the meta and you should be fine.

Sonas winrate was at 57% early this patch as the runes came out, making her the highest winrate champion in the game. And as of today Leona is sitting way to high as well at 55.6% winrate, its just balance changes. And sona is far from difficult, press q and w whenever you need damage/heal, r in teamfights, my friend mains her and god do i hate her lol.

Actually, they are really dealing too much damage, thats why I can understand the nerfs (I'm playing Sona and Leo a lot). But, unlike Leo, Sona is squishy and can be punished easy. Rito could buff her HP at least. =\ Also, Sona useless in late-game without some AP, and they herfed her basic Q buff evenmore, that makes her utility builds even worse. Unlike other enchanters that can be actual with full-def/utility-builds. I have no idea, what Rito are thinking about...

I agree with the first part, but when the people at r/dariusmains saw what the runes did (dropped his winrate by 5%...) the cries could be heard throughout the universe. As a former Darius onetrick i honestly think hes straight garbage right now. He was 4th lowest winrate as a toplaner. Still low at 48/58. Hes really immobile which basically makes him a troll pick nowadays (have to build righteous all games). This wont make a big difference trust me! darius is trash.

I strongly dissagree. Darius is not that trash he has problem with the new runes but that doesnt mean he is one of the worst toplaners as a darius player i win versus almost all of the enemy toplaners and as for the ganks i dont mind because i have 1000 hp at level 4 and wont be bursted that easily. his w does decent amount of damage and he can beat almost every toplaner except maokai in some cases which i really hate playing against -__- but i dissagree on darius being a bad toplaner he might have some problems but he isnt on the low point of trashy

is there an announced reason why corki's base damage nerf was reverted? like they changed their mind and corki doesn't need a nerf or are they planning on something bigger nerf or even a mini-rework for him on next patch 7.24B

Nothing announced so far - sometimes Riot employees provide context around changes when they revert them, but they haven't said anything about Corki this time around.

Personally, I doubt it points towards a mini-rework. It's more likely that those changes took Corki a little too far in the wrong direction (remember everything's still being tweaked around Runes). Might be that later patches bring the same changes back, or transfer them to somewhere else in his kit.

Still no update on bruisers/ap mages. Mid has became practically impactless role unless you play utility champions like Malzahar to press R on someone or TF/Sol to roam and help the roles that actually matter.

Top has became picking tanks that can literally brust a squishy champion in less than 2 seconds and auto winning lane vs every bruiser.
