"What the hell was [Deep Silver] thinking?" - Mighty No. 9 dev reacts to "crappy" trailer

Mighty No. 9

Hey you - do you like awesome things that are awesome? If the answer was 'yes', you probably won't be a fan of the new Mighty No. 9 trailer that uses that exact line.

Megaman is in the past, just like out list of the best old games.

"You've gotta play this game, dude," the trailer says. "It's friggin cool and crazy addictive - like popping bubble wrap-addictive." If you haven't cringed yourself to death by this point, it then goes on to show you the types of dashes you can do in-game, explaining "there's probably a dash that makes you breakfast!"

No, mate. Just no.

Apparently you can "make the bad guys cry like an anime fan on prom night", too . Way to alienate your target audience there, game video makers.

The narrative surrounding Mighty No. 9 has been pretty negative already, with the game delayed multiple times. This video certainly isn't going to do it any favours. Have a watch:

Not only has the video not gone down well with the audience, but Inti Creates chief executive Takuya Aizu blasted the trailer as "horrible" in a public tweet.  "What the hell was D*** *il*** thinking making a crappy PV like this?!" he said. "Unforgivable."

He seemingly blocked out some letters so the company couldn't find it by vanity searching their name, but it clearly refers to publisher Deep Silver and their "crappy" promo video. Ouch. Mighty No. 9 releases on June 21.

Cheers, Gamespot.

Oh, wow, that game looks like crap. Here I was, not following it, but hoping for something similar to Megaman X and it turns out it's like this?

And yeah, that was an incredible cringeworthy trailer!

Im ready to get my hands on the game (if thats ever gonna happen...sigh), but that has nothing to do with this weird and pointless trailer, Ive never seen a dev try so hard to sabotage themselves.....

I... actually liked the advert? I thought it was cute anyway. The gameplay was good. Could've done without the bint talking. Knew this would turn into people getting salty about the announcer talking trash about anime, etc.

They were clearly going for a fun and edgy tone for the trailer, which is cool, just think they missed the mark a bit. Focused more on jokes than gameplay.....

Its really stupid to alienate anime fans when YOU'RE A FUCKING MEGAMAN GAME!!!! I don't even care for anime much, but, I think that was a really bad trailer

I haven't been excited about this game ever since they showed the 'point based combo' system thing. I think it's taking away from the strategy and platforming that made Megaman so good in past in forever of a rush the levels abandon strategy kind of mindset just to GET MORE POINTS YO

Takuya is one of those anime fans on prom night that doesn't like breakfast combo's.
