Why is everyone so excited about the Skaven in Total War: Warhammer II?Why is everyone so excited about the Skaven in Total War: Warhammer II?

The Skaven were never really my thing either until my real foray into the Warhammer classic lore. For me their attraction lies in how unique and interesting they are. Sneaky, underhanded; extremely clever rats with an effective drug addiction and penchant for back-stabbery makes them a hell of a faction to play as. It's just an understandable shame that diplomacy has been relatively streamlined in recent titles.

Id love to see if one of the future total war titles takes a light touch on fantasy, bringing us a dark medieval world with just the whiff of magic in the air.

To be honest, it's the narrative that I'm worried about for that kind of pricing. At £35 I expect a full package or something that truly seems worth the price because realistically by this point many, if not most of us that have the game have already played through it at least once. So looking at it like that (regardless of how much it adds) is £35 the right price for a product that adds a twist onto what you already have?

It'll still probably sell, and if I'm honest once it drops in price a little I'll likely buy it but I will be walking away wondering what kind of road the company is going down in terms of their DLC (If it works once, why not keep selling at high prices). Which I think is something to be wary of nowadays when, and I may be wrong here, people are getting a little more wise to the idea that DLC policies have been a tad more than unfair of late.

Then again. It may shit gold and be amazing and feel like a bargain. Only time will tell I guess.Reply

This is exactly the problem - it might feel like a bargain, or it might only be "a twist," as you put it, but we won't know for sure until we start playing. This kind of uncertainty is what reviews are for (not to toot the horn for our industry, or anything).

That said, Firaxis have been really forthcoming about all the content the expansion will add, and it does look huge. Here's hoping it turns out to be good value, even at £35.

Also Rainbow, although a great game is still fairly difficult for a new player to get into. It becomes almost impenetrable because of the general skill level

What the hell are you? XD - The whole point of getting higher gear is so that you can have better odds against other players, meaning you have better chances. So there would be no point to higher gear if that was the case, because then higher gear wouldn't give you any advantage. - People would be more likely to leave the game if that was the case. Because you'd be upgrading something which would turn out to be a fraud.

Wait so it's what now?

It's an RTS.. with base building.. and resource management.. across huge battlefields.

So what scale is this? Total war level or something closer to Age of Empires?

It's the quality. It's a simple pick up and play game, however connection issues are terrible and matchmaking is a joke noobs are just getting smashed against guys with lvl 108 gear and that's when the game is playable. A good stable system would have made this game a mainstay in this year's game collection, instead however it'll fade.Reply

So have you guys had a PC code yet or just the PS4? I'm holding off on buying it until I'm certain the PC version is reliable, I played GZ but whether that finesse in a PC title carries over to a much larger and more detailed game is still to be seen... Although I did buy a first class ticket on the hype trainReply
Kirk McKeand Avatar

I haven't seen the PC version running yet. I'm not sure anyone has, to be honest. But, like you said, Ground Zeroes was a lovely port. Hopefully this is the same, but it's probably sensible to wait. Arkham Knight still hurts.
