Based on the trailer it looks like just another arena shooter with cell-shaded graphics.
Dominic Tarason Avatar

If it's anything like the original (And judging from the map screen in the trailer, that's the direction they're going), it'll be a lot more technical than that. Each ship will gradually wear you down through attrition unless you carefully pick off security subsystems to open up a safer route to the core. You'll want to shut down the self-repair system first, otherwise it'll fix the drone factory when you blow that up, which is defended by the alarm system somewhere else, which is behind a door managed by the security terminal in another direction, etc etc.

I'm not sure what I could get out of Astrokill considering Everspace exists. It does look fantastic though.
Dominic Tarason Avatar

They're very, very different games. Everspace is much more in the vein of Freelancer. lightweight 'put crosshair on target, watch HP drain' combat. Astrokill is more like a tactical shooter in space. It feels a lot heavier and more mechanical.

how childish and immature to cancel a game if no body hears of his game
Dominic Tarason Avatar

As opposed to the alternative of bankrupting the studio by pouring time and resources into developing a retail game that nobody would even play for free?

I thought this was totally trashed in the customer reviews?
Dominic Tarason Avatar

Mostly due to the fact that it was a team-based arena shooter based on STALKER until recently. They're one large step closer to it being the game people wanted so much now.

Here's hoping it's not too much longer until the free-roam mode is out.

Steve Jackson Games’ Ogre launches on Steam, bringing the classic tabletop game to PCSteve Jackson Games’ Ogre launches on Steam, bringing the classic tabletop game to PC

While not official and definitely not nearly as automated as I would have liked, I've played one made for Tabletop Simulator. Next best thing.

I've really tried to get into tabletop simulator, I'll be fair it was a couple years ago or so, but It seemed like too much work.

I mainly wanted it to avoid setup for Pathfinder ACG. But then a digital version of that appeared by Obsidian. :)

Maybe I should take another peek at it since it's been a while.

It's the same artist, so that's not too surprising.

Rewatching the trailer, and thinking that the special thing about it is that this is how you remember SNES games looking, but they were never even halfway that detailed and well animated. There's art and animation there rivalling the best that Konami & Capcom did through the Playstation era.

Yeah, uh .. I'm not sure where I mentioned graphics. Like at all. A colorful 2D platformer is what I was talking about bringing on the nostalgia.

Charity speedrun marathon AGDQ 2018 announces its lineup, including many PC classicsCharity speedrun marathon AGDQ 2018 announces its lineup, including many PC classics

First GDQ to my knowledge without at least one of the Dark Souls trilogy in its roster. That title is the one that got me watching AGDQ in the first place. Shame as they are always fun to watch. Would have loved to see a GDQ run through the ringed city (having to deal with PvP in the boss arena)
Dominic Tarason Avatar

They're shaking things up a lot this year. This is the first GDQ event without Super Metroid, which has always been a central fixture.

Tiberian Dawn Redux revives the classic Command & Conquer in the Generals engineTiberian Dawn Redux revives the classic Command & Conquer in the Generals engine
Dominic Tarason Avatar

The title of the mod is a little confusing, but as you can see from the trailer, this is the original C&C remade, not the sequel. The original GDI vs Nod battle, with nary a mech in sight, and the only lasers being on obelisks.

Update: It's not used often, but Tiberian Dawn is apparently the real subtitle for the original Command & Conquer. You're thinking of Tiberian Sun.

Belimawr Avatar

yep Tib Sun was the second and it was still a good game and to me the peak of C&C (RA2 being a close second) but I may be biased as it was with Tib Sun that really got me into modding with how easy it was to edit the ini files and make some insane things.
