That is 2 new games where vega is performing like it shouldReply

Aye, it's only two new games, but it's two of the biggest new titles released since Vega was. They may be the only two games where Vega outperforms its main rival, but only time will tell.

Still, kinda interesting though,eh? :)

Sorry, but Ill be taking this article with a very large grain of salt.

Nvidia has even confirmed that the results are accurate, the GTX cards are running into a bottleneck. Until they figured out what it is, the performance will stay at its current level.

The new should 1160 or 2060 will be faster then the 1070 and the 1170 or 2070 will be = to the titan/1080ti and the 1180 or 2080 will be 25-30% faster than the 1080ti. We wont be getting major speed increases like they suggest. The chips are still 16nm just with increased transistor density & IPC in the same size gate.

"The chips are still 16nm" True, they get most of the increased transistor count by making the chips bigger. (They can do this thanks to improved yields.)

AMD’s Vega isn't finished yet, Vega 11 goes into production to replace PolarisAMD’s Vega isn't finished yet, Vega 11 goes into production to replace Polaris

The top Vega 11 card would have to be close to a 1070 at least, meaning RX 56/64 will have to be refreshed to be faster when Volta comes out.Reply
SirEpicPwner Avatar

I think that's the 14nm+ Vega in the roadmap slide from AMD. Probably will be higher clocks, and hopefully some power draw improvements as well.

Wow. I thought I got a raw deal having to settle for a 1080ti FE when I only had a few weeks left in the Step-up program and immediately afterward the 1080ti FTW cards came out ( though not available through the Step-Up at the time. )
Firerod Avatar

Same thing happened to me, stepped up from my 1070 FTW to a 1080 Ti FE because my window was over before the FTW3 came out.

Well it makes sense, if you can interconnect four RX 580 dies on one pcb operating like a single GPU then it would blow anything out of the water with the near perfect scaling unlike crossfire. That would mean they could put two vega dies connected together that would be much better than onboard crossfire which is basically what the pro duo is.
