Why not just a written article? Now we have to listen to some gaming nerd and watch a nerd video.

Why not just buy regular headphones? Anyone who purchases headphones, baby monitors, refrigerators, etc that are connected online deserves everything they get when companies are snooping on them.Reply

The media is pushing IOT stupidly heavily for something we know is a massive risk (IOT = Internet of Things for anyone reading. Meaning connected devices)

The idea is, "Hey, I have a computer in my hand i can carry around with me. Why can't i have the convenience of controlling everything with some sort of magical universal remote?"

The voice should have been British. For some reason a US voice makes talking about WW2 the same as 'The Price is Right'...it just sounds so wrong.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor review snippet Does Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor allow for a good range of character builds?
No. There is really only ONE build. I have almost all ability upgrades and weapon upgrades before moving to 'Act II'. It is still fun to slaughter dozens of critters along with 2-3 captains but, in essence, there is no variation on build.

"Games that number less than 5 on the review scale." On a scale of 1 - 5 anything greater than 2.5 is above average. tut-tut-tut.

Brits do not have 'twinkies' either.

The amount of in-game wonga to pay for a month-worth of plex costs a staggering amount of work and/or resources. Anyone racking up 30 hours/month or less is unlikely to be able to pay their way free of charge. The in-game cost of a plex is a lot more than it was 2-3 years ago.Reply
TzuWu Avatar

That really depends on where in EVE you "live". In high security space it would likely take a lot of work doing level 4 security missions to gather 1 billion isk, the approximate price of a PLEX in game. However in null security space(0.0), you can run drone sites that drop anywhere from 50 million to 600 million isk worth of loot. Comparing anything in a game, or in life for that matter, to how it was 2-3 years ago is kind of unfair. You can run DED combat sites and easily PLEX multiple accounts a month in low security and null security space, or even hisec if you know what you're doing, with a fraction of the time invested in doing mining/missions in hisec. Heck in certain areas of nullsec, especially where the Sansha's Nation NPC populate, you can make 100's of millions of isk off relic sites.I guess the problem is that people who never leave the "safe" confines of hisec still want the rarities that come with more dangerous space. I think another huge problem is that because of the advent of free to play games, the average consumer has gotten very cheap these days as well.

For an article about 15-best-pc-space-games why is everything in the rightmost column EVE-related? Are you pcgamesn folk being subsidised by CCP?Reply
Ben Barrett Avatar

Nope, just every article has an associated game and the items in the right-most column are related to it. Eve was picked here because it's a good space game, unlikely to be removed from the list for any reason, and we have interesting content about it.

This is my first visit to this site but I am confused. The No Man's Sky article dated 4 March 2017 references an upcoming "Foundations update" but this update was released late 2016. Are these just old articles with current date tacked onto them?Reply
Ben Barrett Avatar

Nope, just a mistake. It'd be rather impressive if we managed to pre-write an entire article about a GDC speech that hadn't happened yet, months in advance.
