Sounds like mismanagement at the higher levels, not surprising.

I think that would go down a lot better than the warcraft movie.
Fans would be more familiar with the characters, they're all easier to recognize than 'another orc/human', and also there's the 'visual' appeal be it CG or live-action.Reply

TBH the Warcraft movie also would have gone over better if it were animated in this style instead of live action... Live action was a big contributor to many of it's flaws and failings, including cost (like the absurdly expensive CGI for the orcs)

I wonder if we're at the point where $60 does not cover a "full priced game", and these micro-transactions are quietly subsidizing / preventing an otherwise inevitable price increase.

Average game sales have probably hit their peak, development costs only continue to grow, while the store price-tag has remained stagnant for decades (probably fallen if anything - can't remember the last time I actually paid $60).

Games have mainly continued to be profitable, despite devs sometimes spending thousands on details we don't need for good gameplay.

What loot boxes and microtransactions have done is triple the profits.

I remember being mid-40s on my first character, who was stuck in an endless loop of revisiting the same ever-respawning locations to collect junk, before starting over.
Junk occupying inventory capacity + locations quickly respawning = a giant trap for new players.
Even streamers/youtubers I've watched spent countless hours dicking around in their inventory or traveling back to base because they 'needed' to pick up another damn paint tin.

I like the quiet undertones they included, giving attentive players the feeling that things weren't all well.
The alcoholic mother, that overly cheery woman's freaky note as a birthday gift, rad-roach infestations, tyrannical bullying of even the overseer's daughter of all people.
Whereas FO4 intro was far more 'seen it once, seen it a thousand times'. There's not much subtlety.

Like the game, but no saving gives me something like 'queue anxiety' when it comes to harder missions.
Also there's some way to throw the wrench, I did it in the tutorial but can't figure out how to do it in missions.Reply

Tried T? It ejects you while in the pod, maybe it's a throw key in ships?

So an online game where friendly fire is banned, still has friendly fire enabled?Reply

There's a difference between accidentally killing a teammate in the chaos, and intentionally shooting one.

I'm probably blind and biased by memory, but WinXP was the peak where controlling my computer was a bit like molding clay, the user had all the control to make something beautiful or make a mess.
Win10 feels like captaining a fairly autonomous ship where most of the crew are lying to me. Nothing really goes wrong, but I don't feel like I'm at all in control.Reply

Fallout 4 review snippet Is Fallout 4 grindy?
After over 30 hours of playtime and an equal number of levels I realized I had made no actual progress - the constant micromanagement that is the minuteman faction was holding me back from actually playing the game. A new character and I left the minutemen trapped in their little hole and focusing on the main story, finally reached diamond city. a lot more fun was had as I steadily ignored all the junk I had previously obsessively collected, and without it weighing me down (literally) I felt freed to actually explore and make progress without the constant need to return to 'home' near-hourly. The story was finished and I feel rather numb about it all, it had potential but I felt like too much an impotent puppet for it to be really made the most of.
