I wouldn't worry about too much collaboration just yet. I believe this is more or less just an 'enemy of my enemy...' situation for the time being. I doubt this changes much for AMD or their attemps to undercut Intel in the long run.
Activision have had dealings with TmarTn many times in the past and they don't seem to know what's going on in the video game community at all. So this doesn't surprise me!

Sorry to burst your bubble but Nvidia will throttle the high-end volta cards to a 33%-gain only so that such miracle cards could never be possible to low and mid-range systems. It's how monopoly business models work. Check back in 3 years though.
