I'm really loving this game. Not quite the P.R. of old but lots of solid game-play and very active/dedicated devs. The community can be quite toxic with a lot of random elitism and age-ism. Things like "I've been playing X since before you were born," or "I served in X military so shut up," are rampant on many servers. Not exactly friendly to newer folks but some people make an effort to teach them.

I really hope they don't pull a CoH2 and add that map editor with NOTHING ELSE. Let people add models, modify game files, sounds, etc. The struggle to add even basic things to CoH2 has been going on since release. The support wasn't added in the name of "fairness for the competitive scene." I really hope they add ACTUAL modding support, not some B.S. map editor garbage.

Edit: Also give up on the competitive crap in general. People will turn it into a competitive scene if it works and they want to, not because you push it in your game and take out modding support.

"As the pledges increase, so too does the scope."

Actually, this is fulfillment of the $50M stretchgoal, from August 2014. There are no additional stretch goals added since $65M.

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/funding-goals

But, as a crowdfunded project, CIG has no other choice than use the pledged money to development - to expand the scope and/or invest in more people to do the job or other expenses to run the company while the game is in development. The alternative would be to simply pocket the extra money they get in pledges, and that'd be very unfair to backers and also unethical. So I, for one, am happy they put all the money into development.

Yep. This was one of the original stretch goals for the project as far as I can tell.

I think you're obsessing over kills too much. I've had a few matches where I've killed what I consider to be an impressive amount of people but perhaps the most fun I've had so far was in a match where I drove a Humvee around the whole time. Moving into a position to support the infantry, coordinating and bullshitting with the gunner, driving around in a circle in a poppy field surrounded by low walls while half a dozen of explosions go off around you and the gunner shrieks in terror... Good fun.

This guy gets it. I play almost exclusively as a medic and my best moments are joking around with the guys I'm trying to revive. Other times I'm watching the entire squad go down and take the 50/50 chance of clearing out an area to revive just enough of them. Hilarious moments ensue.

Don't you guys get it? He works on "the internet" so he's "lazy." Come on everyone, gotta work on your old man narrative. Damn kids.

Don't you whippersnappers know that it's not a real job, unless you are a wage slave working for the majority of your waking life on minimum wage barely being able to afford to stay alive. All while someone else gets rich off your hard work?

Valve challenge Gambling Commission to cite laws broken over skin gambling, deny wrongdoingValve challenge Gambling Commission to cite laws broken over skin gambling, deny wrongdoing
Segur ヽ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽/ Avatar

While I completely agree with Valve generally being lazy when it comes to customer support. I don't exactly know what you expect from them in regards to this gambling issue. You cannot gamble using any of Valve's platforms or sites. In order to crack down on the third party sites, they would need to investigate who is gambling what and where, which would be incredibly expensive and, I think at least, somewhat unreasonable to ask of them.

They could modify the system for trading which these sites use to move the skins around but it's already pretty restrictive as it is. I fear if they became any-more restrictive that they might just do away with trading in general which would be kindof shitty.

Not trying to be critical of you or anything. Just wondering what you think they should do?

WhiteCrow Avatar

Yeah, it's a near impossible situation to handle. I'm not sure what the Gambling Commission expects of them either, short of shutting down the trading system completely which no one wants.

If the API is going to remain as open as it is, and without the possibility to add some kind of automatic policing feature, the only option is for Valve to step up their game on the human front. Hire people to curb things like this before they get out of control to the point where Gambling Commissions are coming after you. They won't stamp out all of it, but at least they can avoid things like this.

Will Valve do it though?

Yes, in the recent BF games there has been a "Hardcore" game mode where weapons do more damage and there are no UI cross-hairs, only iron-sites and optics. I assume this game mode made it into BF1 seeing as it has the rest of them.

Thanks, Segur. Do you know if the crosshairs can be turned off in single player?

Europa Universalis IV review snippet How much freedom does Europa Universalis IV give you?
Tons. Pick any nation from between 1440 to 1800 and take them through a journey into the beginning of the Victorian era (game ends at 1821ish). If you don't like any of the nations of the world at that time, make your own custom nation, how-ever you like.
