Why Dragon Age's readiness to break with canon makes its lore much richerWhy Dragon Age's readiness to break with canon makes its lore much richer

A fine article, and you make many points. I can totally get on board for lore changing that was written as a kind of memoir by character in the setting. What I can't get behind is changing of lore that was established directly by the developer, meaning that it was written in stone.

I dislike Inquisition as a game overall, but the story is okay or good, and the lore is interesting.

Games rating boards can't call loot boxes gambling until the law doesGames rating boards can't call loot boxes gambling until the law does

My views on these issues:

1) Loot boxes and microtransactions should not exist in single-player games.
2) Loot boxes with special effects, as in animations and sound that seem to function just like slot machines at a casino should not exist in multi-player games, or fall under the gambling laws of countries.
4) Pay 2 win in any game that you have to pay up front is unacceptable. I can only accept this in F2P games. In addition to that, these microtransactions and loot boxes should only offer cosmetic or non competitive advantages.

Dragon Age creative director Mike Laidlaw leaves BioWareDragon Age creative director Mike Laidlaw leaves BioWare

The Dragon Age series have been dead to me after Origins and Awakening. The Mass Effect series has been dead after the trilogy.

Jade Empire was an amazing RPG. I still dream of a 2nd Jade Empire, one that is true to it's predecessor. :/

Are there anyone notable left at Bioware now? It just seems like most people who worked on the Bioware jewels have all left the company. The Bioware we once knew is dead.

I never cared for the steam forums. There are some real savages on the internet, which makes moderation a must. Discord has some create options for auto moderation. On a discord server I run, with various options I have cut down the manual moderation to almost zero.
