Are the aliens in Saints Row IV scary?

Not at all. They're most probably influenced by the Mangalores from The Fifth Element: big, orcish brutes that are mean and millitary-like, but done so with a comedic slant.

Has a very campy budget sci-fi feel to the monsters they show, so I would have to say this isn't very scary.

I don't know actually

What does Saints Row IV parody?

93

1226 days ago

Mostly sandbox GTA-inspired games in terms of design, but when it comes to jokes and narrative pretty much anything is game: gang culture, consumerism, sci-fi films, superheroes, and Michael Bay all come to mind.

It's funny how saints row started as a serious attempt to be a GTA alike, and with each passing sequel they embraced the silly nonsense that made the 2nd game stand out among so many other GTA clones. Going full tilt into a borderline superhero sandbox with Saints row 3 like elements, the game is a strange but fun tribute to both itself, the sandbox genre GTA spawned, and pop culture as a whole.

How funny is Saints Row IV?

There's a lot of humour in Saints Row IV, and whilst some of it isn't quite on point, the majority is at the very least smile-worthy. It's never particularly intelligent comedy, but between the crude jokes and goofy slapstick are some very solid gags. Sometimes, due to being implemented as game mechanics, jokes can stretch out too long.

Honestly, I thought Saints Row the third had a better writing team, 4 feels slightly rushed and the jokes suffer for it. There are bits that make you chuckle, other parts that make you cringe, but generally the fun factor keeps you hooked in.

How much freedom does Saints Row IV give you?

The city of Steelport is open from the very start of the game, and you're allowed to explore it at your own pace. Scattered around are various activities and side-quests, which are progressively added to as you advance in the main story.

At times, not enough, at others, perhaps too much. Due to the movement mechanics I never once felt like I should steal a car or roam the streets.

Does Saints Row IV make you feel like a superhero?

93

1226 days ago

Saints Row IV is surprisingly one of the best superhero games out there, despite not being based on a comic IP. Even when your powers are not upgraded you can dish out some serious damage and pull off some cool acrobatics. When maxed out, your skills essentially turn you into Superman.

It is depressing to say yes to this question, How did saints row become one of the better super hero games out there? The powers are fun to combo, the abilities give you appropriate feedback, and there is a bit of charm to that entire matrix trope of just launching yourself at warp speeds and dragging cars in your wake.

How much fun are the weapons in Saints Row IV?

93

1226 days ago

Really fun, thanks to its insane collection of weapons. The Dubstep gun is a personal favourite for many, destroying enemies with streams of bass-dropping beats. Across the range are also lots of homages to movie weapons, with Robocop's pistols and Han Solo's blasters two notable examples.

The weapons are silly in a good way, They made sure to ditch the attempts at real guns from the previous series with the new tone and shift in plot for the 4th.

How open is Saints Row IV to explore?

Its a little smaller, or feels smaller due to your new movement speeds, than the previous title, but that said it is extremely vertical in areas and very fun to traverse.

How active is the multiplayer community for Saints Row IV?

93

1226 days ago

Multiplayer is only co-op, and as such you'll need to find someone who's currently playing the campaign to team up with. There may be someone out there if you need a stranger, but Saints Row IV is a few years old now so that's nothing to count on. Best bring a friend along if you're planning to multiplay.

Co-op only, so if you have a friend its worth playing together, at this time the game doesn't have a lot of active online population.

Would you buy at full price or wait for a Saints Row IV sale?

93

1226 days ago

Whilst a fun game, Saints Row IV isn't a long game, so for the best value wait on a sale. It's always without fail in every one of Steam's main sales, so if you're interested it will undergo a price slash within a few months.

Honestly due to its length, I'd say wait for a sale. Its a brilliant game, but I wouldn't drop much on this short but sweet experience.

Nothing special, but the cartoony-look is well achieved and suits the game's tone.

How good are the sounds in Saints Row IV?

93

Dialogue is well performed, making characters feel genuine. The game's in-car radio stations are great, with fun mixes and DJs. Weapon sounds are a highlight, with the Dubstep gun taking a starring role here.

Why do gamers stop playing Saints Row IV after playing for many hours

30
Nari (after 1 day 3 hours play time)

Honestly I did everything I could bring myself to do, it was fun, nearly 30 hours worth of fun. But given the type of game it is, honestly not much replay left once you crush the content.
