Deep Silver will publish Shenmue 3

Shenmue 3 Deep Silver

Kickstarter wonderkid and hope of thousands, Shenmue 3, has found a publisher to help speed its way to stores and hard drives. Deep Silver, famous for everything from the Metro series to the most fetch (read: vile) decapitated torsos, will bring the long-awaited sequel to us in the second half of 2018.

Here’s more upcoming PC games you should be excited for.

It will be the company’s second major import from Japan in recent times, having also brought over PlayStation superstar (and music masterpiece) Persona 5 this year. Yu Suzuki, director on Shenmue 3, says that he is “very pleased to secure this global partnership with Deep Silver, which is comprised of incredible men and women who have a deep passion for bringing Japanese titles to the rest of the world.”

It leaves in question exactly how much input PlayStation have with the project, given they announced it on their stage at E3 a couple of years back (next to a couple of other games you might have heard of). A member of PlayStation’s third-party development relations team, Florian Hunziker, also has a moment in the announcement, saying that they’re still looking forward to the game and believe the partnership will be a great boon to it.

Suzuki himself will be at Gamescom to do a couple of meet and greets. It’s unlikely we’ll see anything more significant from the game at the show, particularly with PlayStation having two more shows to fill this year - Paris Game Week and their own PlayStation Experience. However, it will be present in the business area.
