Notch left Mojang a long time ago. It's Jeb you should beat up, but you shouldn't, because the Minecraft team is working as hard as they can.
It's pretty decent :)

Is this really necessary?
What a meaningless comment. Duke Nukem is as relevant as anything else, entertainment is all personal taste. It's still a popular series on Steam for example, and Duke 3D is second only to Doom in having new maps and user content made every day, decades later. It has staying power.
If it doesn't appeal to you personally, or you just lack imagination, that's fine. But don't speak for the rest of us.
Counter strike has NEVER, until recently, been known for leveling or progression.
Progression comes in all forms, not just leveling.
CSGO has progression for ranks. If you play competitive mode, you are progressing up the ranks.
This is why it is still popular, because it has a competitive scene, and you can constantly progress up the ranks to aim for that Global Elite status
I realize now you were asking for what people LIKE about steam. :P
The concept is as good as it ever was, it's just that as big as steam is, you would think they could afford to fix their problems...
I'm still amazed by how big they are, how much money they earn, and how shit their infrastructure is. The only thing that is fast is their download servers... dealing with the marketplace, greenlight, general shop browsing, etc, gives me brain aches... on a 200/20 line here as well, so yeah.
As does dota, you can't dodge a hook with your blink dagger without pretty good reactions.
